Fabric from Iliv, Curtain Pole from Hallis Hudson
A lovely couple approached us to design and fit two roman blinds and three curtains in their new home extension.
The house had a cosy, rustic and homely feel and we wanted to keep that theme. We noted the oak frame, the grey stone floor, the pale walnut paint, the distressed brown leather sofa and a red & cream patterned rug. We selected a rich, warm red colour and design from the rug as an inspiration for the fabric choice. Our goal was to choose a fabric that would complement the customer’s style and also match the wooden beams without clashing or distracting them.
Since the gable end of the extension featured two large windows, we decided that two roman blinds would be the best fit. The blinds could then complement the existing wooden beams, coming down slightly in front of the windows. On the other hand, the right side of the extension featured a wall of sliding doors that led straight out to the patio and garden. With stunning views, we added two curtains that could close when the couple wanted a cosy atmosphere in front of the fire.
We spent a lot of time carefully fitting the curtain and blind tracks so they sat neatly behind the beams. This took a whole afternoon, but we wanted everything to sit perfectly, whether it was up or down. Finally, we made matching cushions for the lovely leather corner sofa and seat set in the Iliv fabric to complete the look.
We think everyone will agree the ILIV fabric perfectly complements this space. The embroidery thread pattern works gorgeously with the wood, and the rich red colour compliments the Persian-style rug already in the home.
We added a door curtain to the sunroom. The finial had to be altered to fit with the wooden beams, but it looks great!
