Just a stone’s throw from Turriff, Craigietocher Tower is a true passion project which will take your beath away.

Although it might look like a property with a long and rich history due to its authentic architecture, in reality, it is a reproduction of a 16th-century tower house. It took Phill and Meryl over 10 years to build and was completed in 2018.

Phill and Meryl are the hosts and the masterminds behind this impressive project. Sadie, Kim and Judy were lucky enough to have a wee tour around the tower – some of us (we won’t say who!) were like kids in a sweet shop with wonder, and excitement and just blown away by the incredible attention to detail Phil and Meryl have put into it. Despite its young age, the tower exudes a genuinely medieval atmosphere, with 21st-century amenities…its very cosy!

It even won the prestigious “Construction Project of the Year” award at the Trades Awards in 2020.

Our work…

We were thrilled when Phill and Meryl asked us to complete some work for them. Craigietocher Tower has many traditions, one of which is its own Berry colours “branding”. They chose a fabric by Chess called Lewis in the color Berry. This lovely fabric has rich reds, greens, light blues and creams running through it. While wool is a very popular choice for creating a warm and cosy feel, it also has a very practical benefit. Wool has good insulation properties and helps to reduce heat transfer. We created various soft furnishings within the tower, including multiple cushions, a headboard for a guest bedroom, and kitchen curtains with cute bow tiebacks.
